Artists Statement 2024

My work is a response to that which is not directly observed in my environment.

The obscure energies which one feels and the sounds of the natural world are more important to my paintings, than the material manifestations the eyes receive. I would credit a silent awareness to my surroundings, as the force behind the imagery. This primal force is the make or break factor in the way I perceive the success of the painting. The degree of this energy emitted by the painting determines for myself if I have been successful.

The paintings are a personal response to these powerful and ever changing energies. Nonobjective painting proves to be the most potent possibility for the transmission of this sensation for me.
